PIMPS – The Professional Investigative Multi Paranormal Society
The Montior => They’re ready to Believe You
In Texas? Need someone to investigate the spooks?
Something going bump in the night?
Who you gonna call?
The Professional Investigative Multi Paranormal Society?
The La Feria-based volunteer ghost hunting group, along with some members of a similar team from Corpus Christi, are slated to convene in Rio Grande City on Friday to check out stories that La Borde House, the city’s historic hotel, is haunted.
But if you need them to check on a ghoul or spirit while they’re in the neighborhood, said group founder Mary Catherine Zimmerer, they’ll be happy to.
Zimmerer, 33, has a day job as a medical technician, but she and six others spend free time investigating reports of hauntings in homes and public buildings.
Pimps? Really? They’re trivializing the good name of professional ghost hunters with an acronym like that.

Hi, This is Mary-Catherine Founder of P.I.M.P.S.
There are actually two groups put here with the name P.I.M.P.S.
We are Professional Investigative Multi Paranormal Society.
The other is, Portage Indiana Mystery of the Paranormal Society.
Our name was actually made one night when I as a Med. Tech and other Med. Tech’s started putting sentences together and we decided on that name.
it was not until two days later that I looked at the Acronyms and saw that it spelled out P.I.M.P.S.
We are an educated bunch and what you should be looking at is what evidence we have obtained. What kind of reputaion we have. We have been on several international radio shows, Several news papers. Also
front page news. No one has ever bashed us and you are the first not to notice the work we have put into doing our part as investigators in the paranormal.
If you would like to continue to be shallow and ignorant and simply judge on a silly Acronym that is on you and your right to do so.
Thogh as I see it … I have no idea how long you have had your blog up and as of today 04/23/08 I am the only one to so far write in it.
I have stated my opinion and good luck with your quest in the Paranormal Realm.
Just a thought … instead of bashing try promoting,
“PARANORMAL UNITY”.
Professional Investigative Multi Paranormal Society
Better Known As … P.I.M.P.S. Paranormal

Having been called, “shallow” I can hardly not take a stand on this.
Two days after coming up with the name, it wasn’t too late to change it, unless you’d already had the shingle up and business cards printed.
A search for “P.I.M.P.S.” (even with the periods) on Google produces more than a wee bit of results concerning prostitution, and little else.
I maintain that’s not a good acronym and I’m sure you’d agree the same is true of the Cambridge Research About Paranormal Phenomena Society, too.
Besides, “Multi Paranormal”? What exactly does, “multi paranormal” mean? I assume that means you look at multiple facets of paranormal activity, but, surely, by definition, “paranormal” without “multi” also means all facets of the paranormal. “Multi” is superfluous in that name, unless…
I mean this entirely without malice, but the use of the prefix “multi” makes it sound like you were trying to fit the name to the acronym. You know how people come up with the convoluted names so they can fit something they thought sounds cool as an acronym?
Multi just makes “pimps” from “pips.” My spider-sense is tingling. I must use the dreaded “s-word” here: skeptical. I’m skeptical that the acronym PIMPS was an accident.
Be that as it may, I encourage our readers to check out the P.I.M.P.S. MySpace page which I’ve linked to right there.
Secondly, I’d like to address the concept of “paranormal unity.” I’m sure that you would agree that not everyone in the paranormal investigative field is above-board and/or sincere.
I’ve seen frauds and plumbers on TV pretending to be paranormal researchers and ghost hunters. I’ve seen so-called UFO researchers use completely daft and bogus “experiments” to demonstrate to an uninformed lay audience concepts that have no similarity to the hypothesis they’re advancing. They are using the “credibility” of television and the credulity of the audience to advance their own ends.
And those ends are not the furthering of credible research into the paranormal.
It is not and should not be the de factor position of paranormal researchers to stand together for the sake of unity. The position should be one of integrity and holding the findings of other researchers to that same level of rigor.
Paranormal research is grievously damaged by charlatans and crackpots, because, to misquote Ben Franklin, “If we hang with these people, we shall surely be hung with this people.”

I heard you on the radio Wild 104. I was interested in hearing and seeing some of your investigations. I have some pictures that I can not explain. In some pictures they have orbs that I know are not dust flakes.

Okay, you are way too freaked out by the name… ever heard of marketing? PIMPS is a name that gets attention. I knew one person with them… she’s got her stuff together and I wouldn’t hold their name against them.

Hey GroundSloth,
looks like you remeberd their name …. guess they might have something there.
Since it stuck in your head …. I guess it means it’s not easily forgotten.
So when someone needs help, That name is easily recalled.
I called there number and the Lady that answered was very “Professional”.
I even went down and joined them once & keep in touch.
It was a really eye opening experiance.
