Paranormal News Magazine => Ghosts Haunt Upscale London Loft

From Paranormal News Magazine:

It’s always interesting when a report of a haunting comes from an upscale dwelling because it goes against the stereotype that the only people who believe in the paranormal are trailer-park rednecks in Middle America. Of course we all know that’s not true, but it’s nice when those sort of myths are busted. This haunting involves the tenants of a fabulously high-end loft apartment in Clerkenwell, central London, and has been reported on by the BBC. While in the process of moving out, the couple heard something chilling from downstairs: the sound of children wailing, at an hour when children ought to be tucked up in bed. The building itself, as it turns out, is a former Victorian school. It was also constructed on top of an old prison that in the mid-19th century housed 10,000 prisoners a year, including children. The unfortunate couple was moving out specifically because they weren’t aware of the scary history when they signed a lease. The ghost stories became just too much for them to handle, and then eventually the paranormal activities began to manifest. Even the real estate agent trying to rent the dwelling reportedly said, “I’d rather not go there.”

My prediction: Someone will rent this place for more than the going rate in the area.

UFOMystic => Air Force Officer Photographs UFO

From UFOMystic:

According to the World Net Daily, retired U.S. Air Force officer Col. Brian Fields recently snapped a picture of a UFO over Western Arkansas. While this is not special in itself, the fact that some claim to see a figure in the middle of the image of the light is remarkable, if true

New UFO photo.

UFOMystic => Dark Visitors: Puerto Rico’s Moca Vampire

From UFOMystic:

On March 7, 1975, a cow belonging to Rey Jiménez was found dead in Moca’s Barrio Cruz, presenting deep, piercing wounds on its skull and a number of scratches around the wounds on its body. Jiménez’s cow was added to the growing list of victims, which now totaled well over thirty.

Ever hear of the Moca Vampire? It’s a new on me.

Unexplained Mysteries => Aliens welcome in Rachel, Nevada

From Unexplained Mysteries:

It would be logical for this town to consider sisterhoodwith Loch Ness, Scotland, home to a putative aquatic monster whose reported “sightings” have fired up imaginations for decades. Rachel, population about 100, also has a lake, a mystery at the bottom of it and the business savvy to turn it into a lucrative enterprise. Groom Lake, about 25 miles southwest of here, has not held any water since probably the last ice age, but even an attempt to sneak a peak from one of the surrounding mountaintops will bring out the authorities. Pat Travis has seen many a truth seeker ending up in handcuffs. “Remember, if even as much as your toe gets inside the restricted area, they’ll grab you, and you’ll end up paying a $600 fine,” Mrs. Travis said. She is the owner of Little A’Le’Inn, Rachel’s only restaurant, bar and motel, which is booming with curious visitors. Mrs. Travis tells the story about a man who set off a major security alert as he stretched his hand across the boundary to grab a rock as a souvenir. Sirens blared, she recalls, searchlights pierced the dark and black helicopters swooped down from out of nowhere to nab the intruder. Bone-dry Groom Lake and its immediate surroundings are known as Area 51, the U.S. government’s single most closely guarded facility. It is so secret that Pentagon officials are not authorized even to acknowledge its existence.

Time for (yet another) road trip.

Unexplained Mysteries => Revealing the real Frankensteins

From Unexplained Mysteries:

Hidden deep in a Russian forest, and guarded by soldiers with orders to shoot intruders on sight, the medical research laboratories on the outskirts of Moscow were one of the Soviet Union’s best-kept secrets. So the carefully-vetted journalists who were allowed past the forbidding perimeter fence on a cold February morning in 1954 were both apprehensive and curious about what lay ahead. Led to a courtyard outside an austere brick building, they waited in the bright winter sunshine to find out why they had been summoned. For a few minutes, only the sound of birdsong and the rustling of leaves filled the air but then a door slowly opened to reveal experimental surgeon Vladimir Demikhov - accompanied by the strangest looking animal they had ever seen. Blinking unhappily in the daylight as Demikhov paraded it on its lead, this unfortunate beast had been created by grafting the head and upper body of a small puppy on to the head and body of a fully-grown mastiff, to form one grotesque creature with two heads. The visitors watched in horror and fascination as both of the beast’s mouths lapped greedily at a bowl of milk proffered by Demikhov’s assistants.

A two-headed dog, just what the world needs. A pet that can lick and bite the hand that feeds it at the same time!

Paranormal News Magazine => Psychics Look For Missing Plane

From Paranormal News Magazine:

Adam Air flight KI-574 was carrying 96 passengers, including three US citizens, and a crew of six when it disappeared in bad weather. There has been ongoing internationally-assisted search operation in Indonesia since the first of the year. Despite these efforts, the ill-fated flight remains lost. The Indonesian government has become so desperate to find the missing budget carrier flight, they have called in psychics and actually deployed search teams to locations that the paranormal experts suggested, but nothing was found.

This is very disappointing. The search got off to a very strong start when the psychics immediately started getting a very strong psychic impression that the plane would be found, “… on the ground.”

After such a good start, it’s surprising that it hasn’t progressed to conclusion yet.

Paranormal News Magazine => How To Fake A Ghost Video In 10 Minutes

From Paranormal News Magazine:

This is pretty cool even if does contribute to the overwhelming number of fake videos showing up at sites like YouTube.com. It’s a video tutorial that shows you how to create ghost videos, with surprising realism, in under ten minutes. The idea is that you take two clips of the same shot, one normal and one with something spooky going on. Then with simple software you superimpose the two. The tutorial contains an example video that if you hadn’t just watched how it was made, you might easily mistake for real activity. It’s amazing how little hoaxery has changed with the times. In the mid-nineteenth century, just as photography was getting underway, clever photographers learned by superimposing two shots you get some pretty eery ghost effects. Though the medium has changed over the decades the basic ideas haven’t.

Once again, the digital age raises interesting questions about the nature of “proof”.
